While Tesla cars are primarily known for their reliability, many owners are interested in accessing the software features of the car, not just for major procedures like changing configurations, but also for simpler tasks.
Compared to traditional combustion engine cars, the diagnostic equipment for electric cars, especially Teslas, can handle a broader range of tasks. This includes basic service functions like adapting multimedia settings to activating features like Acceleration Boost or Performance versions, or even accessing Factory Mode (activation depends on MCU type and firmware version). Here are some examples:

This includes basic service functions like adapting multimedia settings to activating features like Acceleration Boost or Performance versions, or even accessing Factory Mode (activation depends on MCU type and firmware version). Here are some examples:
Key Binding
The procedure for restoring or adding keys to Tesla cars becomes necessary when:● The car was purchased at an auction without keys.● The key is lost or broken.● An additional copy is needed for another family member.● And in other similar cases.
Although it is not the most complicated operation, when binding keys, one has to bypass Tesla's security system. It's worth mentioning that, using the Loki device, it is guaranteed possible to link a key copy (even in its absence) to the MS and M3/Y models in the basic configuration. Additionally, for the MX model, this function is still being developed with the help of a plugin.
Installing a SIM card instead of an eSIM
This issue is relevant because Ukrainian service providers do not allow Tesla equipment to operate in standard mode. The factory LTE modem, working through an eSIM, supports only one channel. The mobile network base stations using it are mostly located in large cities. A common and incorrect solution is to replace the factory modem with a European one, physically installing a SIM card (re-soldering the slot), which often leads to problems with MCU functionality.
An alternative to these somewhat barbaric solutions is to switch from eSIM to SIM using Toolbox, or even better, Loki. This device, which surpasses Tesla's software in many ways, switches cards using the Online Function without undesirable consequences in the future.
Removing crash data
This is a fairly common procedure, as it is no secret that the overwhelming majority of Tesla cars arrive in Ukraine from American auctions, where vehicles are often acquired after accidents. Most of these are minor accidents, but the safety airbags are triggered, leaving errors in the memory. Removing crash data from SDM, RCM, RCM 2 blocks, or the pneumatic suspension is also possible with the help of Loki.
Additionally, there are cases where errors need to be cleared after addressing the causes that triggered them (referring to errors related to the Battery Management System (BMS) block). It is important to note that error codes for Tesla are unique and do not coincide with those of other car brands. Loki has its own error code library, capable of assisting in any diagnostic work.
Battery condition diagnostics
Despite other indicators such as maximum speed and acceleration to 100 km/h, the driving range remains a crucial characteristic for an electric car. To enhance it, electric car owners, including Tesla owners, resort to various tricks, including replacing the battery with a higher capacity one. This makes sense if the car originally had a small capacity High Voltage Battery (HVB), the replacement of which was included in the price (for example, a cheap model with a 60 kWh battery). However, when the car has a battery that is not the maximum but also not the minimum, and has lost capacity over time, there is no need to rush into the expensive operation of replacement.
The first step is to diagnose the traction battery. There are several ways to check its condition using makeshift methods (some do not involve using any tools other than the speedometer), but the most reliable, accurate, and informative method is to use the Loki scanner again. With this device, a Tesla owner can perform diagnostics independently. Additionally, Loki can remove software restrictions on the battery, leading to an increase in the range on a single charge.
The most comprehensive access to Tesla functionality
In conclusion, as you may have already understood, the maximum access to all the capabilities of a Tesla electric car can be obtained through the Loki scanner. Unfortunately, the device is not all-powerful; there are some things it cannot do, namely:● It cannot roll back the mileage (this is the manufacturer's policy).● It cannot downgrade the firmware. However, its capabilities surpass even those of the factory Tesla software – Toolbox.
